Development Goals

The United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals—also known as the SDGs or the Global Goals—is a group of 17 goals that provide a universal framework for addressing the most pressing challenges affecting people and the planet by 2030. Mapping community initiatives and programs to the SDGs enables organizations to engage a wide range of stakeholders, attracting greater support and increasing brand equity, particularly among young demographics. With 169 targets, integrating with the SDGs and monitoring and evaluating program impact can be a challenge.

Since the launch of the SDGs in 2015, Kelly has taken an active role in bridging the gap for industry stakeholders to learn the advantages of not only mapping their programs to the SDGs and effectively reporting on their impact, but also leveraging this impact to strengthen loyalty and brand reputation among Millennials and Gen Z markets.

How Kelly Helps

Kelly Lovell has shared her insights at multiple United Nations forums and conferences focused on youth-led innovation, multi-stakeholder collaboration and impact measurement for the SDGs. These events include the High-Level Political Forum, UN ECOSOC Youth Forum and UN Commission on Social Development. Lovell’s knowledge and experience have led to advisory roles with various stakeholder groups for the SDGs including Volunteer 2030, Impact2030, Canada’s Alliance 2030 and the UN’s Blockchain for Impact groups. She is also the founding Chair of the Youth2030 Challenge and the principal lead on a national research project working to develop a Micro Action Impact Measurement Index to measure the impact of volunteerism and civic engagement for the SDGs.
